Maryn + Griffin's Italy-Inspired Wedding at The Hillside Estate

Destinations can be great inspiration for weddings — whether it’s a special part of the couple’s history or they just love the vibe! Maryn and Griffin’s wedding, planned and designed by Gathered Events at The Hillside Estate, was a portrait of Positano, Italy, complete with a dreamy outdoor reception, and flowers in a mix of orange and yellow tones.

In the chapel, we lined the aisle with lush ground arrangements, pillar candles and vases of lemon and oranges for a bright and fresh pop of color. The arrangements featured some of the same tones of orange and peach, and touches of bright green. At the altar, a peaked arch was covered with organic-style flowers — more citrus-toned blooms and flowing greenery.

The entry to the venue was another area to deck out with Italy-inspired touches — the guests’ seating assignments were displayed on bottles of limoncello cocktails hung on a trio of boards, embellished with floral clusters that tied in with ground arrangements that sat around them. Pillar candles completed this sweet statement moment.

The reception was held out on the venue’s patio, for the perfect Italian al-fresco feel. Draping was installed above the seating area, along with string lights, that transformed this space and made it feel like a tented event. We designed compote arrangements in mismatched terracotta vases to decorate the guest tables, along with lots of candlelight that greeted such an intimate, glow-filled atmosphere. We also designed a mantle installation for the outdoor fireplace and strung greenery along the lights for a couple more statements that elevated the space.

The bridal party wore gowns in a romantic shade of pink that made the more vibrant shades in their bouquets really pop — for Maryn’s bridal bouquet, we combined light and bright ivory statement blooms like Peonies with peach Ranunculus and white daffodils that tied the orange and white shades together.
